Current WWE RAW Talent Part I - 19th September 2003

Current WWE RAW Talent

Here is my guide for those who have only just begun watching; or those who want to know a bit more about the talent currently working on WWE Raw every Monday night in America (and Friday night here in the United Kingdom).

AL SNOW - Al has been around for quite a few years now, and is a very talented worker. The man who formerly used to talk to a mannequin head was an on-screen trainer for the WWE series 'Tough Enough', and currently works indy promotion dates in his spare time - he is currently the Jersey All Pro Wrestling heavyweight champion. Great talker, and wrestler; very underrated.

BATISTA - A product of the WWE's developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling; Dave Batista is a big man with a lot of potential. Still green in some respects, but if booked right could do well.

BOOKER T - Booker is a 5 time WCW World champion, multiple time WCW World Tag Team champion; and the master of the Spinaroonie. Does wonderful comedy, and yet in the ring is very serious. Would make a good World champion, if he returns from injury in good shape.

CHRIS JERICHO - Formerly competing in both WCW & ECW, The 'King of the World' has held every WWE title imaginable; from World to Intercontinental to Tag Team. Probably the best behind the microphone on Raw, which is showed by his 'Highlight Reel' interview segment each week.

CHRISTOPHER NOWINSKI - Not the best gimmick in the world, which means people don't really appreciate the fact that he's gone from being a lime green rookie from WWE's 'Tough Enough' series into becoming a much improved worker. Above average talker, which saves him from obscurity.

CHRISTIAN - Veteran of TLC (Tables,Ladders,&Chairs) matches, former Tag Team champion with Edge; who wasn't expected to do that well as a singles wrestler. Good heel, cocky and arrogant; and capable of a decent match. Amusing character, and although he has been around in the WWE for 4 to 5 years already - he is a big part of the WWE now AND for the future.

THE DUDLEY BOYZ - The Dudley's are the most decorated tag team in recent times, holding the WWE, WCW, and ECW tag team titles. Great brawling tag team, who love to get hardcore with tables. Bubba has more personality than D-Von, but together they are still something special and the yardstick to measure by.

ERIC BISCHOFF - Eric was a main part of the success of WCW, and many (including myself) were surprised when he became part of the WWE after many bitter verbal rivalries (real ones) with WWE owner Vince McMahon. Has been embarrassed and made to look stupid on a regular basis since joining. Perennial bad guy, sleazy; and very good at it.

GAIL KIM - This is a young lady with a lot of potential and a bright future. Only recently promoted from Ohio Valley Wrestling, brought in with a bang as she won the Women's championship on her first night in. Possibly pushed too hard too soon, and hopefully this will not burn out her WWE career.

GARRISON CADE - Another very good new young talent, currently teaming with Mark Jindrak. If the team is given a chance to progress, this normally cynical writer sees a good future for them.

GOLDBERG - Former WCW World champion, who really isn't that welcome in WWE in a storyline that is based on some semblance of truth. Was booked to an incredible won/loss record in WCW, somewhere around 170 consecutive victories. The problem is, in this time Goldberg quite possibly began to take himself a bit too seriously; and doesn't like to sell much which damages matches irreparably.

GOLDUST - The man formerly known as Dustin Rhodes in the early 1990's in WCW, and son of Dusty Rhodes. Has done more bizarre gimmicks and storylines than many people combined. Still a decent enough worker in the ring when motivated, but is downright hilarious and this is his best feature.

IVORY - Veteran ladies wrestler, who has been there and done it. Old school style, and good at it. Only wrestles on occasion now.

JACQUELINE - Another veteran of the women's scene, very tough. Has wrestled men quite a lot and won, and is convincing.

JAZZ - Former ECW wrestler, and to be a woman wrestler there you HAD to be strong as there was no sexism there; male or female - you'd get hit with a chair or put through a table! Probably the toughest woman on the WWE roster, and an excellent worker.

KANE - Has been most likely the best character in the WWE of recent years. Decent in ring for a man of his size, and makes a wonderful monster heel. Currently the main bad guy on Raw, and has been reinvented image wise by losing his mask and shaving his head.

KEVIN NASH - Washed up physically, can barely work for knee injuries etc. Still quite capable vocally, but you have to wonder how much longer WWE will continue to employ him. Most likely keeps a job because of who his friends are.

LANCE STORM - Allegedly zero charisma, but all the pure wrestling talent in the world. Has chants of 'boring' from fans everytime he enters the ring, but in reality is a very gifted wrestler. Currently attempting to gain a personality with the help of Goldust.
